13 April 2019 marked the beginning of something great in the technology Industry of Malaysia. The Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) signed a Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with Eclimo Sdn Bhd, Neuto Sdn Bhd, and Pomen App.

This is in the mission of expanding capabilities of the next generation of products as the automotive sector slowly shifts to the connected mobility industry. The companies aim to direct their focus on developing new applications and technologies in the areas of electrification, energy efficiency, smart IoT technology, and big data analytics.

The MoU signing took place during the Malaysia Autoshow 2019 in the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) from the 11th to 14th April 2019.

Eclimo Sdn Bhd to Collaborate with MARii for Vehicle Electrification

MARii’s collaboration with Eclimo Sdn Bhd will be focusing on the Electric Vehicle (EV) battery technology as agreed in the MoU.

The two companies will find the possibilities of combining MARii’s developed technologies in battery cells and battery management system (BMS) with Eclimo’s battery pack designs for the Electric Vehicle (EV) battery technology.

Promotion and awareness on battery manufacturing, identification of potential EV platforms, and research on the probability of recycling the Lithium-Ion Battery are part of the deal.

Dato’ Dennis Chuah, Founder and Managing Director of Eclimo Group said that the partnership will help Eclimo in its quest of becoming the leading battery pack developer for electric cars as well as boost the Malaysian automotive industry.

“MARii is an ideal partner for Eclimo, and this collaboration is a transformative step in our journey to build Eclimo as the leading battery pack developer for electric vehicles,” said Dato’ Dennis Chuah, Founder and Managing Director of Eclimo Group. “This helps us to further optimize our patented technologies and intensify our efforts to apply our technologies into various platforms that require portable energy packs and fuel growth in making Malaysia a hub for EV manufacturing.”

“Coupled with the joint efforts to identify new EV platforms for battery manufacturing and lithium-ion battery recycling, we believe the initiatives can help Malaysia tap into an industry estimated to be worth USD22 billion by 2024.”

Use of Hydrogen Fuel Enhancement Technology to Increase Energy Efficiency

MARii and Neuto Sdn Bhd agreement is towards developing Hydrogen Energy Efficient Vehicles (HEEV).

The Neuto NEEV is a plug and play solution for diesel engines using hydrogen fuel enhancement technology to enhance performance and reduce the fuel usage, emissions, maintenance requirements and downtime of diesel vehicles.

MARii will also validate the Neuto HEEV by use of systems and infrastructure developed through MARii that includes National Emission Test Centre (NETC) based on the Malaysian Driving Cycle (MDC), presently being developed by MARii and the industry.

Big Data Management applications is a key factor in enhancing after sales operations

The agreement between MARii and Pomen Autodata Sdn Bhd is aimed at promoting and developing automotive and mobility workshop services. Pomen Autodata Sdn Bhd has also agreed on establishing technology collaborations on Big Data Analytics platforms and systems for the after sales sector.

Businesses in the after sales department are spending a lot of money in ensuring the customers are satisfied. Applying the new smart technologies will have benefits by optimizing such operations to improve the growth rate of the aftersales sector of the automotive industry.

Dato Madani Sahari, MARii CEO shared his excitement on the signing of the MoUs and the benefits the Malaysians will accrue from this agreement. He promised that MARii would continue working towards improving the overall mobility industry through its technology.

“The MoUs signed here today are a testament to the capabilities of Malaysian companies in complying with the demands of Industry 4.0 and the future of connected mobility.”, said Dato Madani Sahari, MARii CEO.

“MARii will continuously render its expertise and assistance in developing the needed human capital, technology adoption, and strategic policy formulation to ensure access for all Malaysians, in particular, SMEs, to the business and career opportunities in the ever-growing overall mobility sector,” he added.
